The Lovely Grand Bakeshop

When Valerie Ryan was making plans to open The Lovely Grand Bakeshop in Bonavista, Newfoundland she reached out to Kate to discuss the possibility of incorporating her wallpaper in the design for the space. Having become friends when Kate relocated to Bonavista in 2023, Kate was very excited to have the opportunity to work with Valerie and wanted to create something special for the project.

Valerie’s design and vision for the bakeshop incorporated her signature colour palette of blues and whites. Having initially discussed some different wallpaper designs, Kate suggested creating a special delft blue version of her Robin design picking up on the varied blue palette of Valerie’s china collection.

The Lovely Grand Bakeshop opened in August 2024 and is located on historic Church Street in Bonavista. Featuring a magnificent selection of baked goods, cakes, lunches and dinners, the bakeshop is a wonderful addition to the town. You can also find beautiful homewares over the road at Valerie’s other business, The Lovely Grand Home.

Kate’s favourite bakeshop treat is one of Valerie’s giant wild blueberry scones and a café au lait.
